Writing/Spelling

Writing and Spelling -

  • Jeremiah will continue to be provided with ample opportunities to expand writing and spelling skills, both in print and online.
  •  Jeremiah continued to expand his writing, manually and on the computer, throughout the.quarter.
  • He completed forms,  conducted Internet searches, chatted online, created comics, signs, and journal entries, cards and notes, and other written projects.
  • Jeremiah continued to expand his understanding of sentence structure and punctuation.
  • Spelling is not Jeremiah's forte; however his spelling improved considerably throughout this quarter.
  • He will have free access to a variety of media for creating written notes, cards, stories, and online postings, as well as access to home and public libraries, including online and print dictionary resources.
  • Jeremiah has full and free access to a wide range of writing and reference materials, both paper and virtual.
  • His passions for creating animations with text, and for online communication through writing, will be fully supported, and he will be given ample time to explore these pursuits independently, and offered corrections of mistakes, as he wishes.
  • Jeremiah continues to create comics, signs, and to chat online, sometimes with his parents.
  • I have asked if he would like corrections during our chats, and he said that he would.  He often remembers the correction after only one or two mentions, and then incorporates it into his understanding.
  • His parents will facilitate by providing the materials and time for free exploration, by answering questions and offering advice as requested, and through discussions that help Jeremiah clarify what he is trying to express via his written words, as needed.
  • As Jeremiah's written communication becomes more sophisticated, he is expressing himself more frequently and effectively with this method. His parents continue to be available for questions and suggestions, and Jeremiah is generally open to them.
